Hi loves, welcome to a lovely hotel stay that I truly enjoyed recently in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. It is one of those places that immediately gives you a soft landing, especially if you are arriving from the airport and desiring ease, along with a genuinely restful environment.

Everything about the experience felt serene, and well considered, which makes a meaningful difference after a long journey. This is one hotel I have returned to three or four times over the years, where my stays have only gotten better each and every time.

The hotel is VOCO Al Khobar, an IHG InterContinental property.

The Arrival

From the moment you step into the lobby, the tone is set. The open concept space is adorned in stunning deep blue hues, airy, and inviting, creating a sense of calm rather than an overpowering composition. I love that the hotel never feels overstimulating. Instead, it feels intentional and well balanced, designed to help you slow down. The staff are consistently warm, attentive, and welcoming, and I have only ever had positive experiences here while staying with my family.

Dining

One of my favorite parts of staying here is dining at Horizon Restaurant, where the buffet selection is both generous and thoughtfully curated. The chefs always do such an excellent job. In the mornings, I always look forward to their spicy omelettes, prepared fresh on the spot and customized exactly to your preference. There is something so comforting about starting the day this way. Paired with hot chocolate, something I always love, and freshly squeezed orange juice, mornings here feel indulgent yet unhurried.

During my most recent stay, the hotel hosted a themed Egyptian night, which was such a lovely addition to the experience. I tried hawawshi, an Egyptian delicacy that reminded me so much of meat pie from my own country. It was absolutely delicious and beautifully garnished. We enjoyed grilled kebabs that were being prepared right outside the buffet dining, The spread also included an elegant selection of sweets, pastries, and fresh fruit, making the evening feel inviting and well considered.

The Rooms

Upon arrival, the suites welcome guests with a complimentary fruit basket, a small but thoughtful detail that instantly sets the tone. I love the open concept layout and the warm, soft ambience of the rooms. They feel modern and fresh while still cozy and comforting. The mahogany toned doors and soft, warm lighting throughout add to the sense of ease, and I especially appreciate that the lighting is never harsh. It makes the room feel relaxing at any time of day.

You are also provided with your own kitchenette setup consisting of a medium sized fridge with a freezer, microwave, cooking utensils, cutlery, and necessary appliances that are suitable for a longer stay. For this visit, I enjoyed a twin bedroom to myself and my parents a master bedroom within a shared suite.

Amenities

Although I have not personally experienced it yet, the hotel also offers a spa and gym, which are perfect if you enjoy incorporating moments of relaxation and intentional movement into your stay.

Another favorite detail for me are the modern bathrooms. The designs are warm toned, extremely neat, and very sleek. Guests are provided with plush white robes and white bathroom slippers, perfect for unwinding and easing into a slow evening routine. I actually filmed a little of my evening routine while I was here and took some cute photos as well. It truly elevates the self care experience. The closets are also lighted and very spacious, which is such a thoughtful detail, especially if you are staying longer and want everything to feel organized and effortless.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my stay and found this review helpful, along with discovering a lovely option if you ever find yourself in Al Khobar looking for a hotel that feels calm, peaceful, and quietly luxurious without being overwhelming. It is truly one I recommend.
